More On the Berg Murder

This isn't the mega-rant, just something else I have to say:

Can we please stop pretending that Nick Berg was killed because of the prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib? Do you idiots in the media understand that the Islamofascists are just using that as an excuse?

Seriously. I'm sick of it. It Abu Ghraib hadn't happened, they'd say it was to avenge our killing of Muslims in Iraq. If we weren't at war with Iraq, they'd say it was because of our invasion of Afghanistan. If we hadn't invaded Afghanistan, they'd say it was because Berg was a Jew.

Did you know that Berg was Jewish? I didn't know that until I read it in the newspaper earlier. Do you honestly think they wouldn't use that as an excuse? These monsters are not human. They cannot be reasoned with. They don't want to negotiate. They don't care if we hurt their feeeeeelings. They're laughing at us. They're parading mutilated body parts in front of cameras while they LAUGH AT US. They're taking advantage of our "civilized" culture so they can eliminate the "infidels."

KILL. THEM. ALL. NOW.

I'm frothing at the mouth with anger over this story. How the #^&* can anyone justify killing an innocent human being as retribution for a few stupid pictures? Human Life is a bit more precious than humiliating pictures. Not to mention that they're acting just like their former nutso leader. Which tells me that these people are just plain evil murderers. How can anyone compare getting your head hacked off to looking stupid in some pictures? AHHHH. Sorry, that was long.

They seemed very Hamas-like to me. Now, I know the U.S. will probably never condone this sort of... um... reciprocity? but I think we should be like the Israelis.

"Oh... you wanna kill our NONCOMBATANT? You wanna EXECUTE a P.O.W.!?

...okay...

...well, you might wanna evacuate your city. 'Cuz we're gonna blow it up. You fight with your dinky little machete, we'll fight with a Tomahawk."

I know, I know, overkill... collateral damage... politics... whatever. Israel always takes heat for defending themselves against Hamas and Hezbollah. Well, maybe fighting for your independence and lives forces you to be a bit more drastic. But if we give in to this crap NOW, we'll have Hamas HERE. Someday. Blow 'em up. Boom.

And you're right CD, if anyone believes this is about that prison they're a bit ignorant. I wonder if DU is siding with the terrorists... er, freedom fighters.

Actually, DU thinks the U.S. government killed Berg.

Friggin' tards.

umm...

...wow.

The phrase "conspiracy theory" just isn't good enough to describe their level of paranoia. We need to invent a new word. I propose "kathenaphobia". It means "fear of everyone". Or even better- "kathetiphobia", fear of everyTHING. Greek scholars excuse me, those are best guesses. They may already be real words, but since I've never heard them, I submit to Webster:

kathetophobia (n)-
1. The intense, paranoid fear of everything around an individual: "A little kid in the dark may have trouble falling asleep due to temporary kathetophobia."
2. The strongly delusional idea that everything one's senses report is being fabricated by another. SEE "The Matrix"
3. The irriational and unrealistic notion that everyone is lying to you, you are the only one in the entire world that knows the truth, and the gunman on the grassy knoll is teamed up with Big Brother and they're after you next. SEE Democratic Underground

Note also the general lack of outrage over this. At work today (I essentially work with the political science department), I kept hearing 'Abu Ghraib this'.. and that, and how horrible. ONE professor picked up the paper, looked at it in disgust and the others just shrugged it off. "Eh, big deal, it's only one person."
It's only ONE PERSON. And that seems to be the attitude of so many. It's a shame. I used to have some faith in people, but that's fading fast.

I noticed that too. The newspaper had one story about the murder (including a nice big picture of Nick Berg's family crying; no sensationalism here), and everything else was still about the Abu Ghraib thing.

A little while later, I was listening to the local news, and I kept hearing the words "Charles Graner" and "prisoners." I didn't hear anything at all about Berg for the few minutes it was on.

I also noticed yesterday that when the news did show the pictures from the Berg video, they made sure to follow it up with pictures of the hooded Iraqi prisoners. You know, just so we don't forget how horrible U.S. soldiers are.

Maybe it's denial.

"This can't be true! Islam is the Religion of Peaceā„¢! We can't talk about it until we find a way to blame America!"

It's sad and infuriating at the same time.
