Giuliani to replace Cheney on ticket?
There are whispers among high-level political advisers to President Bush suggesting the possibility of replacing Dick Cheney with former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani as the vice presidential running mate prior to the Republican National Convention in New York beginning Aug. 30.Cheney, who has no aspirations to run for president in 2008 and has had well-publicized heart problems, has been involved in the discussions and is open to the idea if it strengthens the ticket and helps position a viable Republican candidate to succeed Bush, sources tell WND.
I trust WND about as much as I trust Newsmax (in other words, not very much), but if this is true, I'd support it. Cheney never really struck me as much of a VP in the first place. He doesn't seem to do anything. And, frankly, he scares me sometimes. I'm not sure why. In addition, let's not forget about all the Halliburton conspiracies the moonbats link to him. Giuliani wouldn't have to deal with that.
Sounds good to me. Send Cheney back to the Undisclosed Location™ if that's what it takes.
Posted by CD on June 10, 2004 01:13 AMHell, no. Giuliani is the worst of the neo-cons. He's a capable leader, sure, but he's one of the few Republicans with a shot at the Presidency that I would absolutely NOT vote for. Under him there would be no chance at a traditional marriage amendment and abortion would continue to slaughter millions of children every year.
Cheney is lousy on homosexuality, but great on everything else. The guy voted for plastic guns, for crying out loud!

Posted by: annie at June 10, 2004 04:54 PMGiuliani's the man, but I don't see him as VP anytime soon. If Bush needs somebody, he's got a bunch of youngish ex-Senators and ex-governors on his staff.
