Question for the Makers of Mozilla Firefox

What does "resolving host" mean, and why does the browser always hang up while doing it?

Somebody give me some answers!

UPDATE
I notice several people have come to this post from search engines using terms like "Firefox resolving host" or something. Are you having the same problem with Firefox "resolving host" for about 3 minutes for no apparent reason? I'd really like to know that I'm not the only one who has to deal with this.

Seriously, I know you've probably never been here before, and will probably never be here again, but feel free to leave a comment. Maybe someone can figure out why Firefox does these strange things.

It may be a problem with your connection...
I personally love FireFox and just updated to v 0.9

I love it too. I just think it's prone to some rather strange behavior. I wonder when they'll release the official 1.0 version.

I didn't have this problem when I first installed Firefox, but I just built a new computer, installed a router, and now I have this problem if my computer runs for too long. It's not my DSL connection because other Internet utilities (e.g., mIRC) work just fine, it's something with Firefox. I fear I'm not smart enough to leave an intelligble bug report, though.

You have problems with DNS IPv6 resolving (I know because I had it too).

Solution:

1. Type about:config in location bar
2. Find(scroll down to) network.dns.disableIPv6
3. Right click on above item
4. Choose toggle

Problem should be solved. Strictly speaking problem is at your provider (and mine) that use DNS cacheing servers, without support
for IPv6 requests, but Firefox (Mozilla) could ship with default setting at true, not false. Just a suggestion.
