Images of Destruction

As I said yesterday, the gas company is digging up my backyard to install a new gas line. I went out a few minutes ago and got some pictures so you can see just how serious the situation is. They're in the extended entry, and they're all in thumbnail form, so click them for full size.

This monstrosity has been parked on top of the dirt since they started. My dad was hoping they'd leave the keys in overnight. Draw your own conclusions.

Those bushes had been there since before I was born, and they just dug 'em up. It's a cruel world we live in.

Just to give you an idea of how high these dirt piles are: I'm 5'7", and I was holding the camera at eye level when I took this shot.

Here's a wider angle of this disaster.

And here's a slightly higher angle. See that fence? That's the neighbors'. It used to be where the hole is, but they had to move the entire thing back, making their yard smaller (if you look closely at the grass, you can even see where it was before). Isn't progress fun?

This is where they're putting the gas line.

Here's a straighter shot.

So, there you have it. And don't worry, Phil, I didn't see any Alien Trees. Yet.
