CD's Music Page

Hello, SIT readers. I decided to move my lyrics and other music stuff to the main blog so Blog*Spot wouldn't eat them. I'll add audio samples of the drum parts I've written to as many as possible. Each sample is about a minute long. For more, go here. If a song has a sample available, it will say "AUDIO SAMPLE" below that song's lyrics. (Keep in mind that I've only been playing set for 3 years, so don't expect these to sound professional)

I also have 1 minute mp3 samples of a couple drum solos I've recorded, if you're at all interested. I'll list two of them right here, and the third one is played in the middle of "Power Trip," so I stuck it down there with the other verse-chorus sample.

Also, if you really care, I've included a couple pictures of my drum set (and me playing it, I guess):
Side view
Front view (taken while I recorded "Drumaholic")

DRUM SOLOS:
Drumaholic (sample is 58 seconds long; full solo is about 10.5 minutes)
Wave of the Future (sample is 59 seconds long; full solo is about 16 minutes)

NEW ADDITION: Check out this video clip from another solo (just ignore the part where I lose control of the right stick):
Solo Video

Now, on to the lyrics. I've been writing these since I was 17 (I'm 20 now), and "Blink" was the first song I completed. A lot of these reflect phases of my life that I'm no longer going through (and that I'd rather not elaborate on except for what's in the songs), and others (like "Choice") were written in the past couple months. I still like all of 'em, so if anyone wants to get a band together or something, let me know. Heh.

Pay the Price

They feed you lies, they need the hate
That tells you to annihilate
A traitor to humanity
Your reason for living is tragedy
Perverted ideology
That sends you on a killing spree
You're looking forward to paradise
But in the end you'll pay the price

(chorus)

You say you're protected 'cause your faith is true
It's a shame your "prophets" were as blind as you
Your entire mission in life is flawed
You're a tool of evil, not pleasing God
You thought your enemy was weak
And now your future's looking bleak
Prepare for justice from above
This isn't a mission of peace and love

(chorus)

To your victims mercy was denied
And now it's time for you to die
You had a chance to save your life
But instead you chose the way of the knife
And murder burning up the sky
You made your bed, and there you'll lie
Your time is up, the end is nigh, so
DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE!
DIE!!!!!!!

(chorus)

CHORUS:
You'll never win, so don't even try
You don't deserve anything except to die
A cancer, a virus infecting the Earth
Nothing you do is of any worth
Your life is forfeit, your soul will burn
You'll suffer through punishment that you've earned
You devasate, decimate, year after year
So now it's your turn to experience fear

Useful Idiot

How can you exist, it doesn't seem it should be possible
Your thoughts are all so twisted and there's nothing there that's logical
You shout out all your slogans, try to force them on the populace
You can't go it alone and you'd prefer to be anonymous
Believe the unbelievable, it's too much work to figure out
They've made it so digestible, there's nothing more to think about
Put your faith in the elite, the ones who know what's best for us
And get out on the street where you'll prove you've given them your trust

(chorus)

It's time to march now, so choose a sign
Hold it up high and let it speak your mind
Pick up the pace now, don't fall behind
You wouldn't want to step away from the party line
Look over there, it's the enemy
He doesn't want you to be free
So tell him not to silence you, tell him he's been fooled
It's so much easier to think when you've memorized the rules

(chorus)

Nothing you say is truthful
But to them you still are useful
Sometime the day will come
When you finally have to run
Away from everything you've done
After they've had all their fun
And then you'll be surprised
That you swallowed the lies
So don't cry when you die
You had your chance to try
To deny them but now it's too late
So accept your fate

(chorus)

CHORUS:
You follow along like a useful idiot
Your head is hollow and they keep filling it
With lies and propaganda
You only know how to slander
It's the emptiness that kills
But you just do it for the thrills
How do you expect to change the planet
By leaving everyone empty-handed?
You're a useful idiot
You're useful

Projection

Finding problems where they don't exist
Meanwhile you miss the obvious
It's on your side but you're oblivious
Cause it won't fit your views

(chorus)

You don't believe that it's all in your head
You can't see the irony in what you said
But you lead them along and they don't dare to tread
Off the path you've decided is true

(chorus)

Ever wonder why you're the only one who sees it?
Not everyone thinks the same
Nobody will help you, they just appease it
While you misplace the blame
And you're still wrong
Why do you go on?
Though you felt so strong
You were always wrong

(chorus)

CHORUS:
You have to project, you've gotta protect
The shell where you hide, you can crawl inside
You think that they are always wrong
And you know you will be safe as long
As you take your faults and throw them on
Your enemies, but you'll never see
Why they think your mind is gone
It's been projection all along

Growing Down

They say that wisdom always comes with age
They say that you will learn some as you turn another page
Well I don't know where they come from, but I am in a rage
Because it seems like no one wants to move on to the next stage

(chorus)

It's like I'm surrounded by children who don't know how to think
I look at this world we live in, and I realize that we're on the brink
Of reverting back to another time when nobody reasons, they only whine
But still, they run the world and our sanity is on the line

(chorus)

I can't figure out how it got this way
Where all that matters is what game we play
No plans for the future, no memories of yesterday
And we've all got no choice but to stay
Here
Stay here
Stay here

(chorus)

CHORUS:
Every time I look around, I see people growing down
There's no way to stop it and now it's starting to spread
Every time I open my eyes, I see people losing their minds
Maybe they'll keep growing down until they're dead

AUDIO SAMPLE

Chainsaw

You call yourself a free-thinker
You claim to be open-minded
But every time you say you'll open my eyes
I see that you have been blinded
You don't have all of the answers
You haven't discovered the truth
And every time you think you've figured it out
Reality has escaped you

(chorus)

Now listen up for a second
And think about what I said
Stop trying to change the subject
And let it get inside your thick head
Even though you keep talking
It doesn't mean that you're right
You don't seem to realize that mocking
Won't make anyone see the light

(chorus)

Stop trying to simplify
You won't get me to believe your lies
Repeating the same things again and again
They don't matter because I can cut through them

(chorus)

CHORUS:
You try to cut me down
But it all comes crashing to the ground and falls on you
Because no matter what you do
You'll never be able to deny what's true

AUDIO SAMPLE

Full Circle

It's been so long, you thought you were so strong
You never knew you'd end up back here
You tried to press on but it was like your will was gone
And now all your strength has disappeared
You didn't think about what you would do
If it turned out you couldn't make it through
And now you're trapped and you think
Maybe you've been lied to

(chorus)

You were so involved and you thought you had it solved
Then you fell right back into this hole
Once again you can crawl and try to be absolved
But it seems you'd rather keep spinning out of control
You know this is about life or death
You have to pick a path before your last breath
But you're caught in the middle and
You think it might be hopeless

(chorus)

Are you conquering these feelings
Or just talking to the ceiling
You have to get up, you have to wake up
And make up your mind before your hopes and dreams are denied

(chorus)

CHORUS:
You've come full circle
When you said you'd never return
You've come full circle
And you're never going to learn

Peaceful Chaos

I saw my future in a dream the other day
Everything and everyone had changed, but I think it turned out okay
And as I looked upon another version of me
I wondered if it was real, if it was how it's meant to be
Is this the only way to go, and is there any way to know
If this is the reality I'll see
Will I have to follow this path, will I reach the goal at last
Or is it too late to achieve my destiny, because...

(chorus)

The other night I dreamed that I died
I was laying in bed and I watched my soul float up from inside
And as I stared and watched it fade away
I wondered if this was really how I would see my last day
Is this a sign of a new beginning, have I already killed myself by sinning
Wasting the chances I had to come crawling back
Can I save myself before there are no second chances anymore
To live a life where the truth is not under attack

(chorus)

The future is gone
But I'm trying to hold on

(chorus)

CHORUS:
The future is gone, and I'm moving toward the past
I'm trying to hold on, but time just moves too fast
The chaos in my head puts me at peace instead
Wondering if the life I've led has made a difference yet

AUDIO SAMPLE 1 (CHORUS)

Choice

You don't want to take responsibility
For the things you do
You just want to live your life conveniently
Without thinking things through
Now you want to rewrite your own history
Erase the mistake you made
But an innocent life for nine months of security
Isn't a fair trade

(chorus)

You didn't think about what you were doing
Until it was too late
And now instead of dealing with the consequences
You've sealed another's fate
So you walk in and you have them rip it out
Saving your pride by force
You say you have a right to control your own body
But this body isn't yours

(chorus)

Did you think you were doing him a favor
Were you just not ready to deal with the labor
Are you even sorry for what you've done
Or will you just go make another one
Open your eyes and maybe you'll see
All this senseless death will never set you free

(chorus)

CHORUS:
Choice!!!
Is this your only choice?
To take away a life
That never had a voice
(repeat)

Invincible

You took the years of your life that were meant for education
And made a lifelong dedication to intoxication
Every time you should've been learning in the classroom
You were with your friends getting stoned in the bathroom
Spent the weekends drinking and messing around at parties
So many ways to have fun with a bottle and your car keys
You heard all the warnings that were meant to deter
But you never paid attention because you thought you were...

(chorus)

You walked in that night just like every other Saturday
Acted like you hadn't overdone it, but your eyes and your stumbling gave you away
You brought your friends along, and nobody was fit to drive
Including you, but you chose to try and make it home alive
On the backroads it was dark, and you couldn't stay in your lane
You never even saw those headlights coming at you like a train
When you woke up it was too late, you had sealed your whole group's fate
And maybe at that moment you were finally scared straight

(chorus)

Ambulances, sirens, and and flashing lights
Waiting in the emergency room all night
Breaking down in tears when they told you the news
That you were the sole survivor of your drunken cruise
You know that you can never bring them back
It took so much death to get your life back on track
And through all this pain, a glimmer of hope has arisen
Maybe you'll make something of yourself when you get out of prison

(chorus)

CHORUS:
Invincible, you thought you'd never die
And now that you've been proven wrong, you're left to wonder why
You ever thought that you could always make it
Take it, even try to fake it
You're wishing for a different ending, but for now there's no use in pretending
You're invincible

Ransom

What did the people say?
You act like you didn't hear them
You've thrown aside the rules so you can get your way
When you should fear them
And now you've left everyone behind
While you try to be the judge of it all
But soon you'll discover that the higher you climb
The harder you're going to fall

(chorus)

You claim it's civil disobedience
But it's your job to set an example
No matter how you twist the meaning of this
You can't deny that you've trampled
All over the process that's meant to ensure
That every voice is heard
You can try to blame it on the culture war
But you're really just stealing words

(chorus)

If you want to be a hero and do what's right
Step down from your throne and join in the fight
But where you are you can't just change what's set in stone
Embracing a lie and making it your own
In your little world they might all agree with you
Too bad this is reality and none of your delusions are true

(chorus)

CHORUS:
You try to go above the system
Like you're the only one with wisdom
But you're not the ruler of a kingdom
So don't hold democracy for ransom
The people spoke but you act like they never said it
You're winning now but soon you're going to regret it
So why don't you give back everything you've taken away
You may not like it but you have to respect what they say

AUDIO SAMPLE

Justified

I keep hearing you say that we did something wrong
We interfered in a place where we didn't belong
And every time a new day arrives
We find we've lost a few more precious lives
But you forget about the ones they're fighting for
The weak, the sick, the hungry, the persecuted and the poor
Maybe you should imagine yourself in their place
Before you stir up controversy just to win a freaking race

(chorus)

It may not be going exactly as we planned
Good people are leaving home and losing their lives in a distant land
But just because a few of our nation's bravest are dead and gone
You can't claim that we've failed and have no right to carry on
Did you even see the things these people were forced to go through?
'Cause by the way you're acting, I'd assume you never knew
Psychotic, despotic, bloodthirsty, and worse he
Killed the innocent without blinking, so what are you thinking?

(chorus)

Think of their situation and put yourself in it
Just picture a world where you could die any minute
Where dictators build palaces and drive fancy cars
While you and your family lie out in the street and starve
You must be realistic, these people were sadistic
Just thinking about it's enough to make you feel sick
If you think the world was better when they were still around
Try digging your loved ones out of a hole in the ground

(chorus)

CHORUS:
How would you like it if your freedom was taken away?
Could you live in a place where you could disappear because of what you say?
You still have the right to disagree because of the people who died
But before you start to complain, just remember it's justified

Tolerate

Here come the Thought Police, trying to stamp out all the bad words
Enforcing their beliefs and setting such a double standard
Anything goes and all opinions are okay
As long as it's something they would say
It's always so one sided, they have all the control
So why should they stop now when they're on such a roll?
But they can't get rid of me, 'cause I'm on a mission
And this is what I have to say to all this division

(chorus)

I'd rather live in the past than in a future where I'm silenced
You try to shut me up with your childish verbal violence
So call me old fashioned, call me what you will
Just spare me the insulting overkill
Crying and denying speech when someone else offends you
Doesn't make you right even though you may pretend to
Win a victory when Big Brother takes your side
And you'll lose in the end no matter how hard you have tried

(chorus)

What you don't seem to realize as you rant and complain
And claim that you can feel everyone's pain
Is that you're even worse than the people you've been fighting
When all you ever want to do is run around inciting
Protest and unrest and making a huge mess
When it comes to intolerance, it's simply no contest
You won't even let the other side have a voice
And yet you go on calling it "freedom of choice!"

(chorus)

CHORUS:
I can't tolerate your tolerance
When I disagree you take offense
Why is it that you can call me names
But you get upset when I do the same?
You'd better learn to accept my philosophy
'Cause not everyone lives in the world you see
So I'll keep speaking my mind and letting my thoughts free
And you'll just have to learn how to tolerate me.

Spirit of the Age

When did our compass go astray, with people choosing their own way
Deciding what is best for them, with no fear of their choices being condemned
They say there is no wrong or right, and accuse others of being too uptight
But what makes you happy isn't always the way to go, as any look at our society will show

(chorus)

Right to privacy is their rallying cry, telling us to just let sleeping dogs lie
If you think it's right, then it must be true, and you can't tell anyone else what to do
Because their opinions are valid too, even if they hold a contradictory view
But it's impossible for everyone to be right. Do you think day is the same as night?

(chorus)

I just can't relate to this post-modern state where everything is relative and truth is out of date
The age in which we're living seems entirely too forgiving
I wouldn't be surprised if everything was legalized
That didn't cause a person pain, even if it seemed insane
After all, the whole purpose of this life is personal gain
All people seem to care about is what they possess
They forget about the ones they destroy in the process
But whatever makes you feel good can't possibly be bad
At least that's what they want us to believe, but we've been had!

(chorus)

CHORUS:
It's the spirit of the age, it's a sign of the times
Everybody gets away with their victimless crimes
It's all about your preference and the rules don't apply
If you're not hurting anybody, there's no need to ask why

Blink

I have to listen to your nonsense every day
And you act like I don't hear a single word you say
Why can't you just give people the freedom to frown
'Cause if life was a joke, we'd all be clowns

(chorus)

You walk right up to me and ask me what's wrong
And it's so annoying that I can't keep playing along
I don't look cheerful and you act like I'm the freakin' Grinch
Then you go on wrecking others' lives and you don't even flinch

(chorus)

Why do I put up with this crap we
Just make it worse if we pretend to be happy
But you just go on grinning like a frickin' fool
And assume that it gives you the right to be cruel

(chorus)

CHORUS:
All that you tell me is that I have to smile
And you're insulting me all the while
You just don't understand the way I think
I don't know how you can cause all this pain and you don't even
BLINK!

Turning Point

You've always told me that you want to be my friend
But all you ever wanted was to make my good fortunes end
Well I can see right through you and there's no need to pretend
The tables have turned and now you have earned a chance to learn to defend

(chorus)

You thought you had me convinced you would stay here by my side
While every time I needed you, you had to run and hide
And now you're turning on me just when things are getting tough
You've mistreated me for too long, and I've finally had enough

(chorus)

And now you've reached the turning point
Said now you've reached the turning point
And now you've reached the turning point
We've finally reached the turning point...

And now you've reached the turning point
You picked the wrong side to join
Go ahead and laugh at me all you want
'Cause later I'll be having all the fun

Did you think you would kick me around forever?
When will I give up? How about NEVER?!!!

(chorus)

CHORUS:
I'm sick of your lies
And all the crap you've given me
Walk on me again, and you might end up in your own trap (can't you see?)
So watch your step, and don't turn your back
'Cause this time the real world is gonna attack...YEAH!

AUDIO SAMPLE

Power Trip

We've had a problem way too long, and that is why I wrote this song
Every word of it is true, and they can't stop me from telling you
Week in, week out, day after day, the problems just won't go away
And so until we've finally won, I'll tell you what they've done

(chorus)

They never let you speak your mind, got so much power they've gone blind
And every time we disagree, they turn their backs so they can't see
Just how much we have suffered and they don't think we will make a stand
But they're in for a big surprise, we're gonna open their eyes

(chorus)

Illusion of democracy, conclusion it's hypocrisy
They act like they can never fail, treat us like we belong in jail
They just keep making up the rules, I think they need to go back to school
And learn a thing or two before we just won't take any more

(chorus)

There's just one more thing I have to know
And I hope that it won't make you hate me
But I can't avoid asking so
Have you abused your power lately?

(chorus 2X)

CHORUS:
They've taken away all of our rights
But we're not broken, we're gonna fight
'Cause you don't know what it's like inside
They're on a power trip, and we're along for the ride...YEAH!
You...have you...have you...abused your power lately?

DRUM SOLO

Lost and Found

Staring into space, trying to find a place
That I can relax, but gotta face the facts
I've got nothing left, looks like I'm bereft
Of all of my dreams, why's it always seem
Like I am behind, can't control my mind
Think this is the end, 'cause I can't go through all of this again

(chorus)

Every time I get distracted, the same old scene is re-enacted
Can't get out of this vicious cycle, know it's gonna end up just like all
The other times I couldn't get done, and now there's nowhere left to run
I'm losing touch with reality, afraid I'll never manage to break free
I always know the future but don't alter my fate, and by the time I try, it's all too late
Sweating it out until the early morning, never gonna listen to that mental warning...

(chorus)

I'm running out of time, can't control my mind
I'm empty inside as I watch my hopes die

Seems I'm never gonna learn my lesson
Never gonna change, but today I am confessin'
I never really even cared in the first place
Something always came along and helped me to save face

But now I'm all alone with nowhere left to turn
I'm sinking like a stone and I'm gonna crash and burn...
BURN!!!!!!

(chorus)

CHORUS:
Lost all I ever wanted, cost everything now I'm haunted
By all I never had, why do I make things so bad?
Found nothing but despair, drowned and nobody cares
The pain just won't let me rest, I'm drained from the emptiness

Ode to Humanity

It's great to be human, amazing how far we've come
We've gone from being uninformed to being just plain dumb
We've come to the conclusion there's no purpose to our lives
And so we give up, give in, and surrender to our drives

If it feels good, do it, and if it hurts you, screw it
If you ever take time to help out someone else that means you blew it
There's no "I" in team, but there's no "us" in existence
You only come out on top when you leave others in the distance

It's great to be human, to identify with a group
That rose so triumphantly out of the primordial soup
Survival of the fittest is why we remain at large
So no wonder our best and brightest are constantly in charge

Don't rock the boat, and don't you dare disagree
To have an opinion is mindless bigotry
Morals and ethics are best left to the weak
Get with the times if it's power you seek

Can't you see that this life is all that you live?
Without a reward, there's no reason to give
Universal truth is a thing of the past
We've broken free from the chains of oppression at last

The world's so much better now that we've eliminated
Everyone who ever hated and was too opinionated
Just 'cause ancestors and leaders said it was true
Does that sound like a logical system to you?

So forget consequences, rejoice and be free
As you celebrate the success of humanity

AUDIO SAMPLE

See You Around

All through my life this place has tried to eat my soul
It's tried to keep me from achieving all my goals
But on the river of life, it's all been just a stepping stone
And now that I'm across it's time to try this on my own

(chorus)

Caught in a time warp, trying to drag me into the past
This place is getting old and my time here's fading fast
And when I'm gone I really hope that you don't mind
Picking up all of the stupid crap I left behind

(chorus)

I'm finally gone and I can say I made it through
You failed to stop me from succeeding as I grew
And all that time the most important thing I learned
You can't trust many people if you don't want to get burned

(chorus)

CHORUS:
I've got my ticket out of this place
You probably won't even miss my face
And once I'm out that door, I won't have to deal with you anymore...
'Cause I won't see you around. (4X)
