Observation

I just realized that I've been blogging for almost 8 months, and I've never had a real troll.

I'm not saying I want one, of course. I just think it's odd.

(NOTE: People who take this as an excuse to pose as a troll will have their comments edited into Ralph Wiggum quotations)

Semi-Intelligent Comments

Not to sound like a retard, bare in mind I'm fairly new to the blogoshere, what is a troll?

Posted by: The Sicilian at May 14, 2004 03:52 PM

Trolls are moronic commenters who post for the sole purpose of getting a reaction, and will not listen to any facts or arguments contrary to their position. They almost always use fake names and invalid e-mail addresses.

Here's a more detailed analysis.

Some of the more "famous" trolls include "Robert McClelland" and "Um Yeah." You may see their ramblings in the comments of blogs like The Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler and Pardon My English.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for that info. Sorry if I bugged you, I'll be on the look out for these idiots. I've seen the "um yeah" one on IMAO.

Ahh, the McClelland troll visited me regularly for a while, but gave up when he discovered I was serious about deleting his more offensive posts. :)
