Examples

Remember when I said that liberals seem to be able to simultaneously believe that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction AND the U.S. sold them weapons of mass destruction?

I found a good example of this mindset in some Right Wing News comments. Check out this quote from a lefty:

...the sarin shell is from the Iran/Iraq war. Game over. No WMDs.

How do they handle that much cognitive dissonance? I think it would cause my head to explode.

Oh, I get it, CD.

First, there is the little issue of physical evidence--the shell with binary sarin. A lefty can't debate its existence. It's a tangible object.

So, what he/she must do now is pretend that all of the UN Security Council resolutions were NOT about Iraq possessing chem/bio weapons, but about Iraq producing them actively. That the 1991 cease-fire, all subsequent resolutions, and the activities of UNSCOM and UNMOVIC weren't about Iraq declaring everything it had and then getting rid of it.

Because if that's the case, then obviously Iraq was in material breach of the resolutions, and we all know what that means--Bush didn't lie! (And that just can't be. The left just KNOWS he always lies!)

Obviously, whether they had leftovers or whether they were making new stuff, they STILL HAD IT, and hadn't gotten rid of it as the 17 Security Council resolutions required them to do. But that's apparently not good enough for today's left, which will pick a permanent position on WMD just as soon as they find one that can withstand changing circumstances.

I think their strategy now is to pretend that sarin isn't a weapon of mass destruction, although last time I checked, a chemical that can kill you with one drop was considered pretty destructive.

It scares me that these people vote.

Oh, Saddam got rid of all his WMD before Bush took office. They just missed that one! Really!
